'Vampire Diaries' Star Kat Graham Will Play Tammi Terrell in a Biopic of the Late Singer

Deadline is reporting that "Vampire Diaries" star Kat Graham will play Terrell in an upcoming biopic of the late singer, from writer/producer/director/actress Maryam Myika Day, and produced by Robert Teitel, Rose Ganguzza and Hilary Shor.
Graham’s own Panthera Pictures production company will also produce.Over a short 12 month period, starting in April 1967, the super duo of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell enjoyed a string of 4 straight hits with some of the greatest love songs ever recorded at Motown Records. Sadly, only the first two of those 4 hits were released while Tammi Terrell was still well enough to perform them. In October 1967, just six months after the release of the now-classic “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” Terrell collapsed onstage during a live performance at Virginia’s Hampton-Sydney College. Two-and-a-half years later, on March 16, 1970, she died of complications from the malignant brain tumor that caused her 1967 collapse. She was only 24 years old at the time of her death, but she already had more than 10 years of show-business experience behind her, starting early, appearing as an opening act for the likes of Patti Labelle & the Bluebelles, later joining James Brown’s live revue as a backup singer at 18. In 1965, at the age of 20, she was signed to Motown Records. But it wasn't until a couple of years later, when Motown decided to pair her with Marvin Gaye, while working with songwriters/husband-and-wife team of Ashford and Simpson, that Terrell (along with Gaye) became a star. After “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” came: "Your Precious Love,” “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing” and “You’re All I Need to Get By.”
Kat Graham said: “I immediately connected to Tammi and her story in many ways and have felt the incredible need to tell it... Tammi Terrell defined passion and soul itself... Getting lost in the music enabled her to override life’s punishments - for when she sang, she could use the hurt to create greatness and give the world hope that maybe they could overcome their pain as w

Tracy Morgan settles suit with Wal-Mart over fatal crash

According to NBC, Walmart Stores said Wednesday that it has settled a lawsuit with the representatives of comedian Tracy Morgan and two others, who were seriously injured in an accident involving its truck.  The crash on June 7 last year killed comedian James McNair. Walmart has already settled with his children.
The terms and conditions of the settlement with Morgan and the other plaintiffs remain confidential, the company said.  "Our thoughts continue to go out to everyone that was involved in the accident," said Greg Foran, Walmart U.S. president and CEO, in the statement from the company. "While we know there is nothing that can change what happened, Walmart has been committed to doing what's right to help ensure the well-being of all of those who were impacted by the accident. We worked closely with Mr. Morelli, and we are pleased to have reached an amicable settlement that ends this litigation. We are deeply sorry that one of our trucks was involved."
As part of Walmart's press release, Morgan said, "Walmart did right by me and my family, and for my associates and their families. I am grateful that the case was resolved amicably." Reached by NBC News after the announcement, Morgan's agent, Lewis Kay, said he had "nothing else to add at this time to the statement that Walmart put out."
McNair, Morgan and others were returning from a performance in Delaware when the limousine bus they were traveling in on the New Jersey Turnpike was rear-ended by a Wal-Mart truck.
Morgan, who starred in the TV show "30 Rock" and the late night comedy sketch show "Saturday Night Live," suffered a serious brain injury and several broken bones and spent weeks in hospital and rehabilitation.

Danielle Brooks of ‘Orange is the New Black’ Joins Broadway’s ‘Color Purple’

According to Variety, Danielle Brooks, the actress who’s turned heads in her role as Taystee in Netflix series “Orange in the New Black,” will make her Broadway debut alongside Jennifer Hudson and British actress Cynthia Erivo in the musical version of “The Color Purple.”
Brooks will play the tough Sofia, the role played in the film version by Oprah Winfrey — who’s on board as a producer of the revival, just as she was for the musical’s Broadway premiere in 2005. Sofia is one of the three major female characters in the show, with Hudson on board as nightclub singer Shug and Erivo starring as protagonist Celie, a role she first played in London.
Brooks, a Juilliard grad whose upcoming films include the “Angry Birds” animated movie, doesn’t yet have a lot of experience with stage musicals, but she said said she’s been singing all her life. “I grew up singing in church as a little girl,” she said.
The 2005 production of “Color Purple” was the first Broadway show Brooks ever saw, she added, and helped her realize she wanted to pursue acting. The novel, which takes the form of letters written by Celie to God, also had an influence on her: “When I write in my journal now, I always start with ‘Dear God,'” she said with a laugh.
The actress expects to be filming the fourth season of “Orange is the New Black” while she’s appearing in “Color Purple,” which starts performances in November. The third season of “Orange is the New Black” launches June 12.

'19 Kids and Counting' TLC Yanks Show From TV Schedule

According to TMZ, TLC has just pulled all airings of "19 Kids and Counting" from its lineup ... TMZ has learned.  Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ, the fate of the show is uncertain, but there's now so much heat in the wake of Josh Duggar's molestation confession the network had to make the decision.  We're told they absolutely have not made a long-term decision, but it's clearly a bad sign for the show.  And there's this, a rep for General Mills tells TMZ, they have already blacklisted the show and removed it from their company's current advertising schedule. TLC ran a Duggar marathon Thursday, prominently featuring Josh. There was big backlash, not the least of which came from Mama June, who felt TLC was giving the Duggars a pass for far worse conduct than hers, which caused TLC to pull the plug on 'Honey Boo Boo.'

Oprah Winfrey Cancelled Duggar Family Interview After Molestation Tip

According to TMZ, Oprah Winfrey took swift action when her production company got a tip that Josh Duggar had molested young girls, including some of his sisters, refusing to go through with a scheduled appearance on her talk show.  The first tip about Josh Duggar was sent to a staffer at Harpo. The email was received on December 7, 2006 at 6:30 AM. The email not only refers to the molestation, the author also claims Jim Bob and Michelle covered it up.  Oprah's people sent the email to a child abuse hotline.  The Duggars were already in Chicago for the taping, which was scheduled within a day of the email. Oprah's staff jumped so quickly, we've learned at 1:17 PM the same day, an Arkansas State Police officer contacted Michelle, telling her she needed to bring Josh back home immediately for an interview.  Turns out there was no conflict, because Oprah's people immediately cancelled the taping and sent the family home.

The rap star was busted last year in NYC for speeding while on his way to his mother’s funeral. Tom Bergeron out, Alfonso Ribeiro in as host of 'America's Funniest Home Videos'

According to the YBF, Former "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" star Alfonso Ribeiro, who danced his way into the hearts of tv viewers during his Mirroball winning spin on "DWTS" last season, has landed the top gig at "America's Funniest Home Videos"! Alfonso was named as Tom Bergeron's (also the current "DWTS" host) replacement this week during last night's season finale of "Dancing With the Stars."
Alfonso recently sat down with THR to discuss how his version of 'AFV' will differ from Tom and if he'll break out "The Carlton Dance". Check it...
What will your version of AFV look like?
Not all that different. I think they have found the right vibe for the show. The difference between Bob Saget and Tom: Bob was about his jokes and Tom has really been about setting up videos and having those be the star of the show. I think that will continue. I think they are going to make some changes to the set a little bit and go with some different colors and just make it a little newer and fresher. But for me, I’m just going to bring my energy. I have a high energy and a lot of creative ideas in terms of dancing and singing and maybe I'll use some of those abilities to introduce some of our videos. We’ll just bring my vibe to it.
In an era where everyone is passing around clips on YouTube all day long, how do you make the show premium?
Ultimately, you can go online and sit at your computer, but the computer is a single apparatus. When you sit in front of the computer, it feels like it’s for you to sit there by yourself. One of the things that AFV does is that it's probably the No. 1 show on TV that has co-views, where parents and their kids will watch it together. It’s such a family show, and one of the few family shows left on television. I think that it’s a destination because it’s everything that the internet has, but it’s really bringing it to the TV. You can sit down as a family and watch. It’s the perfect time: It’s Sunday night, you’re getting ready to start your week again, you sit down, you have family dinner, you throw on AFV, and you watch it together as a family.
What are your favorite types of viral videos?
My style of video is when people hurt themselves. I just love the idea when people decide to do something really stupid and then they fall and bust their head open and, of course, they don’t kill themselves — but they do it with the idea that they think it’s going to be really funny, and then they bang themselves up. And then we get to really enjoy it. There will definitely be some of those with me.

Kanye West gets Bleeped on The Billboard Music Awards

According to TMZ, Kanye West totally blindsided Billboard Music Awards producers when he performed the n-word laced version of his hit, "All Day" and forced the censors to stand on the audio dump button. Production sources at the award show tell TMZ Kanye never did a dress rehearsal of the song, so they just expected him to be on his best behavior, and perform a clean version. One source said, "He knew it was national TV." His closing act is the one everyone's talking about -- even though they couldn't hear or see most of it.  The production source told TMZ, "He's Kanye. What are we supposed to do?"  Kanye not doing a dress rehearsal isn't THAT odd. Mariah Carey also skipped hers and several sources told TMZ  that's just what happens for top of the A-list acts.

Debbie Allen Is Expanding Her 'Grey's Anatomy' Role - Will Become Executive Producer & Director

According to Shadow and Act, After appearing in the hit ABC Shonda Rhimes medical drama, and directing a number of episodes, Debbie Allen is getting ready to step into an even larger role, as an executive producer and regular director for the upcoming 12th season of the show, which actually hasn't been officially renewed, but is obviously expected to be.
"Grey's Anatomy's" ratings continue to be strong for ABC, as part of the network's booming Thursday night lineup, also known as Shonda night, given that all 3 drama series ("Grey's," "Scandal" and "How to Get Away with Murder") that air in primetime on that day, are all Shondaland babies. Also, ratings have apparently surged ever since (SPOILER ALERT) the show killed off one of its key players in Patrick Dempsey. Although it'll be worth paying attention to see whether the momentum carries.
It may not be widely-known, but Debbie Allen has directed episodes of several different TV shows over the years, dating back to "Fame" in the 1980s, to "Jane the Virgin" and "Empire" most recently. This ABC upgrade (if you will) ensures that she will be even more involved in the production of the series from here-on, while still also recurring as Dr. Catherine Avery.
The final episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy” will air over the next 2 Thursdays.

Prince Releases New Track “Baltimore” In Honor Of Freddie Gray

According to Raw Story,Prince on Saturday released “Baltimore,” the song he recorded in response to unrest in the city over the police custody death of Freddie Gray.  A statement on Prince’s Soundcloud page on Saturday said he played all the instruments on the released version of the song, which features vocals from the singer and Eryn Allen Kane. The statement said Kane, “a powerhouse vocal arranger and producer in her own right”, “graciously flew in on a moment’s notice and graced the track with her angelic presence”.
Referencing the 18-year-old who was shot by an officer in Ferguson, Missouri last August, leading to similar unrest, the song’s lyrics include the lines: “Does anybody hear us pray?/ For Michael Brown or Freddie Gray/ Peace is more than the absence of war.”
Prince also sings: “Are we gonna see another bloody day?/We’re tired of cryin’ and people dyin’/ Let’s take all the guns away.”
The Rally4Peace concert is scheduled to take place at Baltimore’s Royal Farms Arena. It will be streamed live on Tidal, the service owned by Jay Z.

Tina Knowles Lawson Writes Touching Mother’s Day Letter to Beyoncé, Solange, Kelly Rowland & Her Niece Angie for ‘TIME Magazine’

To celebrate Mother’s Day, TIME asked influential moms to write letters to their children. Tina Knowles Lawson was one of the moms asked to contribute to TIME‘s “Letters from Mom.”
Instead of solely writing to her daughters Beyoncé and Solange, however, Tina also included Kelly Rowland and her niece Angela Beyince.
Read her touching letter below.
To Beyoncé, Solange, Kelly and Angie
When I was asked to write an open letter to you, I thought about the hundreds of texts and emails that I have sent to you on holidays and on Sundays, when I ask you to say a prayer to thank God for each other. Every day, I wake up thinking about how much I love, admire and cherish each of you.
I gave birth to two of you, but I have four incredible daughters. Writing this brought to mind all the ways you guys have been such a blessing to me.
When I’m feeling sad or not-so-cute or maybe a little sorry for myself, and you all include me in your group chat and tell me how hot I still look or how cool I am. Maybe you send me a crazy YouTube video. What actually works best is a cute photo of my grandchildren.
I remember slumber parties after my divorce, when we watched old movies and ate a lot of ice cream. I felt so loved and supported. The roles were reversed, and it was ME who needed nurturing.
I remember my first date when every one of you weighed in on what I should wear.
The obvious things about all of you are apparent. You are all strong, beautiful, intelligent and smart businesswomen. You are so much more than that. You are all kind, generous and you treat people well. You are all amazing mothers, wives, daughters, sisters and friends. All of you have total self-respect.
Beyoncé, I wish people could see how you are when you’re not in front of the camera or on the stage. How compassionate and kind you are to people, how you look them right in the eye when you speak to them. How hard you work, how generous you are with your time and money. How you don’t care if anyone knows about it because you do it from the heart. I wish they could see you with the Make-A-Wish Foundation kids, how patient you are and how your love has helped to extend lives. Yes, you are a huge star, but you have somehow managed to stay grounded and humble in the wake of all your success.
Solange, I knew when you were born three days late that you would walk to the beat of your own drum. You were always my rebel warrior! Always defending the underdog and fighting for what you believe in. I remember you, at 10 years old, started a petition to remove a bad teacher, and your dad and I were so proud of you. I love that you do not let others define who you are, or what you are. Whether in your music, fashion or your life, you truly are your own incredible, unapologetic person! As tough as you are, you will drop everything to take care of someone you love.
Kelly, I know without a doubt that you were a true gift from God. You came to live with us when you were only 11 years old. You were the sweetest, most kind person I had ever met and you still are. You are also a true survivor. You never give up. Your discipline and drive always inspires me. You make me want to take better care of my body and constantly motivate me to exercise and take time for myself. You have the best listening skills and are a loyal friend to many. I’ve seen you take the jewelry off of your arm and give it to someone because you wanted to make them feel good.
Angie, you are my niece, but we have always been more like mother and daughter! You were always so mature, always challenging me and questioning why. (Fortunately I never believed in the “Because I said so” or “I’m the adult” crap, either.) I always trusted that you would look out for and protect Solange, Kelly and Beyoncé, and you did! You still do sometimes. You are so smart and perceptive, and you see through bullshit right away! You’ve always had our backs. Our own family fixer!! You know I call you Olivia Pope!!!!!
I’m often asked, what was my most proud moment? I would have to say it was at my recent wedding, when all four of you said in your own words that I taught by example and that I helped to make you the women you are today!!!! That was truly my proudest moment!
All my love,

Chris Brown Finds Random Naked Woman and Calls Cops

According to TMZ, Chris Brown came home Wednesday night to find a naked woman in his bed problem is he had no idea who she was so he called the cops and they carted her away.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ CB returned to his home in Agoura Hills, CA with his security team around 9:00 PM when he found a woman's clothes in the foyer and "I LOVE YOU" spray painted on the kitchen counter.  We're told when Chris and his team went to investigate, they found the unknown/unclothed woman in his bed. Chris called the cops, who came and cuffed the woman and took her to the station, where she was booked for felony burglary and felony vandalism.
Cops believe the woman -- a 21-year-old female -- had lingered there for a while -- police found dishes in the sink and discarded food.
