Richard Pryor's Kids Don't Want Nick Cannon Playing Their Dad in New Biopic

Director Lee Daniels is reportedly working on a new biopic on the legendary comedian (some say the greatest of all time) and has tapped Cannon to play Pryor. However, Richard Pryor Jr. and Rain Pryor don’t think Cannon has the acting chops to pull it off, according to TMZ.
Pryor’s grown children think Marlon Wayans would be a much better fit since they believe he “understands their dad’s psyche and can connect with the character in a compelling way.
Per TMZ, the Pryor children don’t think Drumline gives Cannon the repertoire it takes to play their father.  Cannon playing their dad isn’t their major issue with the biopic though. The children believe the biopic dishonors their dad’s legacy because it is a vanity project for their stepmom, Jennifer Pryor. According to them, Mrs. Pryor will skew the facts of Pryor’s life to make herself look good.
The Pryor kids aren’t happy they’ve been cut out of the process.
There’s a theme here lately with biopics: When the family isn’t involved, there’s going to be backlash.  One of the only biopics without any bad publicity has been Don Cheadle’s Miles Davis biopic. And why? Cheadle is working directly with Davis’ family. The biopics with all the drama (Nina Simone, Whitney Houston, Aaliyah) are the ones where the family isn't involved and feels excluded.
Sidebar: I would never even think of Nick Cannon as Richard Pryor ever, nor Marlon Wayans, but I will reserve judgement until I see it. I feel like if the family is so angry about what others do then they should do their own biopic and honor their dad's legacy the way they want to. I just hate when people are complaining about what others do while they have done nothing. Do the definitive project and it won't matter what anyone else does.
