Audra McDonald Makes Tony Award History

According to NJ.com, Audra McDonald has made history as the woman to win the greatest number of Tony Awards for acting - and to win in each category.

Tonight, she received the prize for Best Performance By an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play for her performance as Billie Holiday in "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill." This is her sixth Tony Award, including previous honors for her performances in "The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess," "Carousel," "Master Class," "Ragtime" and "A Raisin in the Sun."

The only other woman to hold six Tony Awards is Julie Harris, who received five for performance and one for Lifetime Achievement.

Sidebar: So happy for Audra McDonald.  She is a great talent who truly deserves these wins.
