According to BlackFilm.com, actress Tami Roman has been cast in Halle Berry‘s CBS’ Sci-Fi Drama ‘Extant,’ joining Goran Visnjic, Grace Gummer, Camryn Manheim, Hiroyuki Sanada, Louis Gossett Jr., Annie Wersching and Michael O’Neill.Produced by Steven Spielberg, the series will center on a female astronaut trying to reconnect with her family, after she returns home after a year in space.
Her experiences lead to events that ultimately change the course of human history.  After spending a year in space, where she lived and conducted strange experiments, astronaut Molly Watts (Halle Berry) tries to resume a normal life with her family consisting of her husband, John, a gifted scientist, and Ethan, their son, a boy like no the other. He is not their biological son as Molly is infertile. Ethan was designed by his father as the first prototype of a future line of “Humanichs”, “human robots”. But the return of Molly will have dramatic consequences for the entire planet and the fate of mankind.  Roman will play the role of Cass Hendy.  Although her first her big break came on MTV’s “The Real World” back in the early ’90s, it was her appearance on the VH1 reality series “Basketball Wives” as the ex-wife of former NBA All-Star Kenny Anderson that brought more attention. She was on from Seasons 2-4 (2010-2013) and the first episode of Season 5. Since then, she’s also starred on TV One’s “Belle’s,” which lasted one season and co-starred in the 2012 indie film “Life, Love, Soul.”  In speaking with the Chicago Tribune recently, Roman told the newspaper she’s also working on her own TV series, stating, “My focus is on my own spinoff called ‘Roman Empire.’ We are taping this week for an hour pilot and then going forward from there. My focus is getting this storyline about my life in development and making it something VH1 is proud of and brings in viewers. … I have a TV show coming this summer that CBS has asked us not to talk about. It’s with a very well-known and respected Academy Award-winning star. People get to see me back in the
lane I was in before returning to reality TV.”  Extant will premiere on July 9, 2014.
