According to Variety, HBO has announced that its popular drama “Game of Thrones” will return at 9 p.m. Sunday, April 6, skirting the problem it had last year of its critical and audience darling competing against “The Walking Dead.” (The new season of AMC’s equally revered drama bows February 9 and is scheduled to wrap March 30). Based on George R.R. Martin’s book series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” HBO’s bloody medieval-style drama has thrice been nominated for the drama series Emmy, while its season-three finale brought in a total of 6.3 million viewers for that night — up nearly 30% from the previous season’s finale. HBO will also air the series premiere of Mike Judge’s comedy “Silicon Valley” and the new seasons of the Julia Louis-Dreyfus comedy “Veep” and news magazine show “Vice” on April 6.
