Soul Train Awards Honors Dionne Warwick & Keith Sweat

The 2013 Soul Train Awards is set to take place in Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena tonight reports Urbanhotradio.com.  The musical event will be hosted by comedian/actor Anthony Anderson and will pay homage to two legendary singers Dionne Warrick and Keith Sweat.  Warrick will be honored for her achievements in the music industry which spans many years of great music and collaborations.
She’ll be honored with the Legend Award for her work on such songs as “That’s What Friends Are For,” and “Walk On By.” Warwick is the cousin to the late great singer Whitney Houston.  Keith Sweat, the suave R&B singer who stole all our hearts back in the 90s will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.  Sweat held down the ladies hearts with songs like, “Nobody,” “I Want Her,” “Make It Last Forever,” and “Right And Wrong Way.”  Both of these honorees will be serenaded by some of the greatest on the Soul Train stage. Ron Isley, Eric Benet, Bobby V, Gladys Knight and Ruben Studdard plans to wow Warrick with a tribute performance to some of her greatest songs.  Faith Evans and Keith Sweat will take us down memory lane with some of his classic tunes. Other artists set to hit the stage include Tamar Braxton, Chaka Khan, Jennifer Hudson and Chrisette Michelle. Some of the presenters include Raheem DeVaughn, Bill Bellamy and Larenz Tate.  This year the Soul Train Awards announced that they wouldn’t allow any lip syncing from the performers on the show. This comes after Eminem was ridiculed for his performances on Saturday Night Live last week. Eminem has denied that he was lip syncing. I agree that lip syncing is for the birds.  If you’re at an awards show or live concert, you want to see/hear the live version. Anyone can tune into the studio version by popping on their iPod.The Soul Train Awards will air on BET and Centric TV on December 1 at 8PM EST.
