Julianne Hough Apologizes for Halloween Costume

According to the Huffington Post, qe're used to seeing celebrities cross the line of appropriateness on Halloween but it's usually nothing more than an overly skimpy costume. In Julianne Hough's case, good sense was thrown out the window when she decided to go as "Orange Is the New Black" character Crazy Eyes.  Hough, 25, donned blackface for her costume yesterday, which she completed with an orange jumpsuit and Crazy Eyes' signature bantu knots. The actress attended the Casamigos Tequila Halloween party in Hollywood with friends, who appear to have all gone as the cast of the hit Netflix series. No one in the group, however, seems to have given Hough a heads up about her offensive getup.

Sidebar: Really Julianne? Where are your friends? You could have avoided this. I have no idea why you wouldn't think this would get negative feedback and be offensive. If Whoopi Goldberg got flack from wearing black face why wouldn't you? You could have save yourself an apology and just went as someone else.

TLC's Chilli: Usher Never Cheated on Me

In an exclusive interview with US Magazine, TLC's Chilli spilled the deets on her public-breakup with Usher reports TheYBF.  Chilli debunked the rumor that Usher's 2004 Confessions album was about her (she never said he never cheated on her...just that the album wasn't about her) and revealed that the songs were REALLY about Jermaine Dupri's love life.
"We were together when he recorded that album. All of those songs on Confessions, that was about Jermaine Dupri's situation. Usher was just singing it. But people kind of bought into it, it was just the timing of our breakup when the album came out. So people assumed that album was about us, but it was not.
And Usher and I weren't oil and water. We broke up because I guess it was that time or whatever....he was that real love for me."
And about those cheating rumors...Chilli stayed mum on Usher's extracurricular activities, simply repeating that it was time to make a "move".
"In any relationship, even when it came to my relationship with Usher, when it was time to make a move, I had to do that. I don't care how much my heart was hurting, sometimes you're just supposed to be with people for a reason and it's not always a lifetime. Even if you want it to be, it just doesn't work out that way."
She also revealed:
"I'll always love him, forever, because he was my first adult love, a real love....we're cool, we're really cool. There's no hard feelings, nothing like that. It's all good."

Sidebar: they make a really cute couple. Those babies would have been gorgeous. Maybe they can reconnect down the line.

Can You Name These Celebrity Twins?

12 Years a Slave Opens Big

According to THR, Steve McQueen's harrowing drama 12 Years a Slave did impressive business in its theatrical debut, playing to both arthouse audiences and African-Americans as it continues to build awards momentum. The Fox Searchlight release grossed $960,000 from 19 theaters in six top markets for an enviable location average of $50,526, by far the best of the weekend and one of the top averages ever for a movie opening in that number of theaters.  Produced by New Regency and Plan B -- Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner's company -- 12 Years a Slave has earned stellar reviews since its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival. It also drew an A CinemaScore.

The film, financed by New Regency, tells the true story of Solomon Northup, a free black man living in upstate New York who was kidnapped and sold into slavery. Chiwetel Ejiofor, who plays Northup, stars opposite Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, Lupita Nyong'o, Sarah Paulson, Paul Giamatti, Alfre Woodward, Paul Dano and Pitt.  Searchlight distribution chief Frank Rodriguez said 12 Years a Slave "reached an incredibly diverse audience. Playing in theaters including Lincoln Plaza in New York and the Showcase Icon in Chicago, we have been attracting both the art/specialty cinephile crowd, as well as the African-American audience."  On Friday, 12 Years a Slave will expand into an additional six cities and increase its total theater count to more than 100.
Sidebar: Lupita Nyong'o was AMAZING in this film. I cannot believe she is straight out of school! Well, it was Yale. Lol! She was so good that I hope she is nominated for an Oscar. Even though this movie was very hard to watch, I recommend it to everyone.  The atrocities African-Americans had to endure at the hands of slavery, and white supremacy is mind-blowing and could never fully be captured in one film, but you do get a taste of it.  The glimpse that they show is enough to remind us all of the horrible past of this country. I especially love the fact that this is the story of a free black man, who was kidnapped into slavery.  So, we get to see rare scenes where a black man is upstanding citizen in white society back in the 1800's. That was refreshing. There are more stories like this, but we never get to hear about them.  It is my favorite reason this story is being told.
