Quvenzhané Wallis Officially Cast as Annie

According to Firstshowing.next "The sun'll come out tomorrow!" The youngest Academy Awards Best Actress nominee ever has confirmed her next starring role. Sony Pictures and Overbrook Entertainment have officially announced that Quvenzhané Wallis will be starring in their new take on Annie, adapted from the musical which first hit Broadway in 1977. Wallis, the star of Best Picture nom Beasts of the Southern Wild, is now 9-years-old and has been touring around this past awards season, which culminates in her big night at the Oscars. This new take on Annie is being directed by Will Gluck (of Fired Up, Easy A, Friends with Benefits) from a screenplay written by Emma Thompson and rewritten by Aline Brosh McKenna. It's produced by James Lassiter, Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith at Overbrook Entertainment, and by Shawn "Jay Z" Carter, Jay Brown, and Tyran "Ty Ty" Smith through Marcy Media. Gluck is currently revising the film's screenplay. Hannah Minghella, President of Production for Columbia/Sony Pictures, states: "With the recent Academy Award nomination and critical acclaim, Quvenzhané Wallis is a true star and we believe her portrayal as Annie will make her a true worldwide star. She is an extraordinary young talent with an amazing range, not only as an actress but as a singer and dancer, and we can’t wait for audiences to further discover her." At the moment, they state Annie will be released during the winter holiday season in 2014. Quvenzhane (pronounced kwa-venn-zha-nay) Wallis is the only individual officially cast so far on this adaptation of the musical about an orphan's adventures to find the perfect family, and on Wallis' acting career from here. Sheryl Lee Ralph Talks SMASH and being honored

Studio Q caught up with the original Dreamgirl, Sheryl Lee Ralph, on the red carpet of the 2nd Annual Gospel Goes to Hollywood Awards.  We talk to Sheryl about being honored and how much love she has received from her family and friends.  Her son, Etienne Maurice, also had a few loving words to share about his mother.  Standing next to Sheryl and her son, you can't help but feel the closeness of their mother/son relationship. It was very sweet to see.  Sheryl also talks about playing the role of Jennifer Hudson's mother on the NBC hit show, Smash.  One line in, and her character's pizazz and diva attitude is felt by all.   This is one Momager who does not play about her baby girl.  I hope she becomes a recurring character and we get to see more of her in future shows!

Don't miss seeing Sheryl Lee Ralph in tonight's episode of Smash on NBC. Also make sure you download or pick up a copy of her book, Redefining Diva: Life Lesons from the Original Dreamgirl on Amazon.

ICON MANN’s Inaugural Pre-Oscar POWER 30 Dinner

Over the weekend Studio Q exclusively covered, the ICON MANN’s Inaugural Pre-Oscar POWER 30 Dinner, held at the L’Ermitage Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Unlike the evening news, event producers Tamara Houston and Adrienne Alexandra, celebrated black men in their best light - something that really should be done more often.  Everywhere you turned there was a beautiful black man who was both talented, distinguished, and oozing out Swag.  All I wanted to do was scream out in my best "Men on Films" voice from the 90's sketch comedy show In Living Color, "Black Mens! Black Mens!"  This many amazing black men in one place is a rarity in Hollywood.  Every woman in Hollywood (famous or not) would have love to be at this event. The Pre-Oscar Dinner was all about celebrating trailblazing black men in entertainment and multimedia

Guests included actor Michael Ealy (“Think Like A Man”), rapper/actor Common, actor Jesse Williams (“Grey’s Anatomy”), actor David Oyelowo (“Lincoln”), marketing executive James Lopez (Sony/Screen Gems), director Tim Story (“Think Like A Man”), magazine publisher Len Burnett (Uptown Magazine), entertainment attorney Gordon Bobb, director George Tillman, Jr. (“Notorious”), actor Dennis Haysbert (“The Unit”), talent agent Charles King (William Morris Endeavor), actor Omari Hardwick (“Sparkle”), talent manager Brian Dobbins (Principato Young Entertainment), entertainment executive Guy Primus (Overbrook Entertainment), actor Wendell Pierce (“Treme”), talent agent Ryan Tarpley (Creative Artists Agency), and NFL Player Terrell Suggs (Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens), among others. Because this was the night before the Academy Awards we couldn't resist getting everyone's Oscar predictions Watch below as Black Hollywood predict who should take the golden statue home.

Oprah Honored at Essence Black Women in Hollywood Event

According to Eonline.com Imagine being awarded alongside the likes of Oprah Winfrey! Gabrielle Union, first-time Oscar nominee Quvenzhané Wallis, Skyfall starlet Naomie Harris and the OWN head honcho were just some of the incredible stars honored during today's Essence Black Women in Hollywood luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel.  And celebs at the bash couldn't stop gushing about Ms. Winfrey.  "It's Oprah, as soon as she speaks, as soon as she walks into a room, its something that's going to motivate, that's going to uplift you," Kelly Rowland told us. "I think God gives that gift to very few people and he gave it to her." "It's insane," Union said of getting awarded along with Winfrey, before gushing about the media mogul, "Very rarely do you meet people who are as advertised. She's everything and then some. And she keeps giving more, which is the true sign of power."

Kelly Clarkson Sets the Record Straight About Clive Davis and his Memoir

According to Kelly Clarkston's letter on Whosay Clive Davis left a lot out of his recently released memoir. I love how she goes in on the iconic mogul and sets the record straight as it pertains to her. Read what Kelly wrote below:

Hey y'all,

So I just heard Clive Davis is releasing a memoir and spreading false information about me and my music. I refuse to be bullied and I just have to clear up his memory lapses and misinformation for myself and for my fans. It feels like a violation. Growing up is awesome because you learn you don't have to cower to anyone - even Clive Davis.

First, he says I burst into "hysterical sobbing" in his office when he demanded Since You Been Gone be on my album. Not true at all. His stories and songs are mixed up. I did want more guitars added to the original demo and Clive did not. Max, Luke and I still fought for the bigger sound and we prevailed and I couldn't be more proud of the life of that song. I resent him dampening that song in any way.

But, yes, I did cry in his office once. I cried after I played him a song I had written about my life called "Because Of You." I cried because he hated it and told me verbatim that I was a "sh*tty writer who should be grateful for the gifts that he bestows upon me." He continued on about how the song didn't rhyme and how I should just shut up and sing. This was devastating coming from a man who I, as a young girl, considered a musical hero and was so honored to work with.
But I continued to fight for the song and the label relented. And it became a worldwide hit. He didn't include that in the book.

He also goes on to say My December wasn't successful because I co-penned the album and it didn't have "pop hits". Well, first let me say, I've co-penned many of my "pop hits." Secondly, My December went platinum (It sold 20,000 less than All I Ever Wanted which followed My December.) Hardly a huge failure. Never Again, the ONLY single they released in the US from that record was a Top 10 hit. I am very proud of that and I have my fans to thank. But, again, what's most interesting about his story is what he leaves out: He doesn't mention how he stood up in front of his company at a convention and belittled me and my music and completely sabotaged the entire project. It never had a chance to reach it's full potential. My December was an album I needed to make for myself for many reasons and the fact that I was so completely disregarded and disrespected was so disheartening, there really aren't words to explain….

Anyway, I love my job. I love my music. I love my fans. I love my label and all of my professional relationships… now. And I am grateful for Clive for teaching me to know the difference.

Cheers to another amazing year! And, as always, thanks for listening!

Sidebar: I wonder what other stories were wrong and left out of his book.

Floyd Mayweather inks Groundbreaking Deal with Showtime

According to Vibe.com, Floyd 'Money' Mayweather Jr. has just signed a ground-breaking deal with Showtime Networks inc. that can potentially go down as the largest individual athlete deal in all of sports.  While the terms are "contractually confidential," the undefeated boxer is set to fight six times within the deal over a period of 30 months. Showtime pay-per-view will exclusively air the boxers' bouts via the corporation's expansive media platforms, including the CBS television network.  The arrangement sends a huge blow to rival network HBO, which previously housed the multi-million dollar fighter.  Mayweather averages a million pay-per-view buys per event - the highest PPV buys average in the history of the sport.  His forthcoming match-up against Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero will emanate live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 4. Mayweather's last two fights (both victories), earned the boxer a total of $85 million, making him the highest paid athlete in the world by Forbes.

Fergie Confirms Pregnancy Rumors

According to TooFab.com It's true -- there's a baby on board for Fergie!

The 37-year-old Black Eyed Peas singer tweeted her happy news on Monday morning, at the same time as her handsome hubby Josh Duhamel.

"Josh & Me & BABY makes three!!! ," she wrote, along with posting the adorable composite pic of the pair above. Her 40-year-old beau also posted the photo, saying "Fergie and Me and BABY makes three. ."

This will be the first child for the pair who have been married since January 2009.

Not to toot our own horn, but we totally called it! Fergie showed up at the premiere of Josh's movie "Safe Haven" two weeks ago, looking a little fuller than we've seen her in the past. Yeah, we noticed those lovely lady lumps. Congrats!

The mom-to-be also suffered an ill-timed photo-op at an event for her new wine line. Yes, that's right, she posed with wine bottle and glass in hand just days before admitting she's preggo. Oops

Today February 11, 2013 marks one year later after Whitney Houston's passing and it still feels surreal. I don't want to accept that she is gone. I am so grateful to have had an opportunity to meet and interview Whitney on MTV. It was a dream come true and it remains as one of the best days of my life. I had a blast with Whitney!  I thank her for being so kind to me.  She laughed and hugged me like I was a member of her own family. I will never forget that day.  She was one of the most genuine spirits I have ever met. RIP Whitney. We miss and love you down here. Below check out my MTV interview with Whitney. Also push play on a video Studio Q put together to honor the 1 year anniversary of Whitney's passing.  It is taken from a forthcoming Whitney Houston tribute Studio Q will produce this year.

Centric To Air Whitney Documentary

According to Ebony.com on February 9th at 9PM ET, Centric will air never-before seen documentary, Whitney Houston: Legend with interviews with celebrity friends and mentees, such as Vivica Foxx, Tamar Braxton, Ashanti, and many more.  The never-before-seen documentary chronicles the life of the famed pop star and features exclusive footage and interviews from herself and the people who knew her best. With the one-year anniversary of her tragic death nearing, the film highlights the influence Houston had on the music and business while cementing a legacy as one of the greatest voices of all time.

Sidebar: Looking forward to seeing all of the Whitney documentaries. The difference in our original Whitney tribute and everyone else's is the heart that was used to do it, and the very real fact that only two people put it all together. We at Studio Q are life-long Whitney fans and you will be able to see that when you watch our tribute.  Also, all the kind folx who backed our Kickstarter Project will get to see it first on their own personal DVD's. We are so excited to add our project to the out-pouring love for Whitney.  She deserves this and so much more.

Whitney's Family at Madame Tussauds to Honor Whitney

According to People.com, "We were extremely honored when Madame Tussauds approached us about doing four figures of Whitney from different points in her 30-year career," Houston's manager and sister-in-law Pat Houston said in a statement on behalf of the family. "This is something we are excited to do for the fans."

The unveiling marks the first time in 200 years that the museum has simultaneously created so many different figures of the same subject. While each took shape at the Tussauds studio in London, they will be displayed in separate cities.

Houston performing the national anthem at the 1991 Super Bowl is going to Washington, D.C.'s Tussauds; Hollywood will get her in her 1992 movie The Bodyguard; Las Vegas will display the young Houston as seen in her 1988 video for "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)"; and New York will exhibit a more recent likeness of the singer, from a 2009 photo shoot for her final studio album.

"She was a true and rare talent, and we are exceedingly proud to be adding her wax likeness to our attractions in the United States," said Rosemary Preta, director of marketing, Midway USA, Merlin Entertainment Group.

Houston's wax figures will be unveiled in New York on Thursday, nearly a year after her passing.
Sidebar: I didn't see Bobbi Kristina.  I gotta keep her little girl prayed up. But on a high note I love that Whitney is being honored. She deserves that and so much more.
