Dwight Howard at Fry's Electronics in Burbank!

If I get to run into Dwight Howard then the NBA lockout is good for something! I saw Superman inside of Fry's electronics in Burbank. Two things I love about living in LA frequent celebrity sightings and the weather!

Karma's Footsteps by Mariahdessa Ekere Tallie

Looking for a great stocking stuffer this Christmas? I got the perfect item! Head over to  Amazon and purchase Karma's Footsteps by Mariahdessa Ekere Talle! I remember this author doing poetry back on the campus of Clark Atlanta University. She is one of those poets you always remember, because her words moved you. If you need a little more coaching to part with your tightly held recession dollars check out the following description by Nikky Finney: Somebody has to tell the truth sometime, whatever that truth may be. In this, her d├ębut full collection, Mariahadessa Ekere Tallie offers up a body of work that bears its scars proudly, firm in the knowledge that each is evidence of a wound survived. These are songs of life in all its violent difficulty and beauty; songs of fury, songs of love. 'Karma's Footsteps' brims with things that must be said and turns the volume up, loud, giving silence its last rites. "Ekere Tallie's new work 'Karma's Footsteps' is as fierce with fight songs as it is with love songs. Searing with truths from the modern day world she is unafraid of the twelve foot waves that such honesties always manifest. A poet who "refuses to tiptoe" she enters and exits the page sometimes with short concise imagery, sometimes in the arms of delicate memoir. Her words pull the forgotten among us back into the lightning of our eyes." - I'm sold!

Robin Givens, Kadeem Hardison, & Kevin T. Carroll in Pearl Cleage's Blues For An Alabama Sky at The Pasadena Playhouse

Just got back from seeing Pearl Cleage's Blues for An Alabama Sky at the Pasadena Playhouse directed by Sheldon Epps and starring Robin Givens, Kadeem Hardison, and Kevin T. Carroll.  The play was amazing, and I totally recommend you seeing it. There is nothing like watching a great story played out on the theater stage.  I was so happy to see Robin Givens and Kadeem Hardison on stage.  You don't realize how much you miss certain actors until you see them again. They both hold dear places in our hearts from Kadeem as Dwayne in the 90's Cosby Show spin-off sitcom, A Different World and of course Robin Givens in Eddie Murphy's classic film, Boomerang. Who I wasn't familiar with was actor Kevin T. Carroll. I was a virgin to his superb acting skill, well that is, until tonight. He truly is a star.  You will love him in his role as flamboyant, costume designer 'Guy'. But don't take my word for it, get a ticket and run, don't walk, to the Pasadena Playhouse and check out Blues for An Alabama Sky. The last date is on November 27, 2011, so hurry! You won't be sorry. So in the words of Sam (Kadeem Hardison) come on down and 'Let the good times roll.' Stay tuned to Studio Q for interviews with the cast!

“Blues for an Alabama Sky,” Pasadena Playhouse, 39 S. El Molino Ave., Pasadena. 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 4 and 8 p.m. Saturdays, 2 and 7 p.m. Sundays. Ends Nov. 27. $29 to $59; premium, $100. (626) 356-7529 or PasadenaPlayhouse.org. Running time: 2 hours, 40 minutes.

Whitney On Access Hollywood

Whitney Talks 'Sparkle' with Access Hollywood!

Why Do Artists' Charge Fans Ridiculously High Ticket Prices?!!!

I understand that everyone is trying to make money in the music industry, especially since the decline of CD sales, and of course downloading from the internet. But can artists' get on board with lowering their ticket prices? I mean really, these are your fans coming to the show. Why won't they follow Prince's lead and do a series of shows for $25? He is one of the greatest artist of all time, and he clearly wanted his fans to be able to afford to see him.  It's so sad that people want to gouge the very ones that are supporting them. Like Jay-z selling Occupy All Street T-shirts?! Really Jay? You're a rich guy who's gonna sell to the protestors who are protesting the rich. Let's make money off of the ones who have the least. It's so ridiculous! I want to see artist do free concerts in the park, or have a day set aside for affordable prices.  The life they live is partly because people paid to experience their talent. Give back! Share without looking to get something back for a change. I feel the internet is appropriate payback to the establishment. Now the very same companies that tried to keep us out and make money hand over fist don't even exist anymore. Name a record store. Go ahead. I'll wait....Justin Bieber showed us that you can make yourself a star. Let's just hope he doesn't forget that a short time ago, he was uploading videos for free to youtube and wanting fans to watch without paying.  This is just a personal soapbox because I love music and I see how devoted and committed fans are to the stars who make it.   It would just be nice if every once in a while the stars would recognize that in a way that allows their fans to see them, and not have to be evicted from their apartments to do it.  When I went to see Prince I could buy a ticket and get something to eat. If he can do that I know others can.

Most Expensive Ticket prices of 2008. It's 2011 and nothing has changed.
  1. Madonna : $378
  2. Elton John : $306
  3. The Eagles : $279
  4. AC/DC : $263
  5. Tina Turner : $263
  6. Celine Dion : $240
  7. Bruce Springsteen : $235
  8. Coldplay : $217
  9. Neil Diamond : $217
  10. The Police : $216

My best friend and I went on a best friend trip provided by The Oprah Show to Miraval Spa on 5-31-11 which all adds up to 11(5+3+1+1+1=11). It doesn't stop there! This morning I picked up a paper bag with 11 Oprah magazines that said Free Take Oprah Magazines! Yes, you can't deny the magic of God.
